This is a simple, tax free way of charitable giving directly from your wages. The payroll giving donations are deducted before tax. This means that each £1.00 you give will only cost you 78p, and if you're a higher rate tax payer it will only cost you 60p.

Information for Employers

In just four years, from 2000 to 2004 Payroll Giving has increased from £37 million to £87.3 million.. Even with this steady growth in giving, only 2% of UK employees participate in Payroll Giving schemes. In other countries such as the USA employee participation rate is nearly 35%.

Research shows that companies that offer employees the opportunity to participate in Payroll Giving increases their company image, shows commitment and involvement in local communities. Additionally this enables employees to participate in volunteering opportunities and encourage community involvement initiatives.

96% of companies have also expressed that they believe Payroll Giving is something a good employer should offer. Nearly all have that they would like to increase participation levels in their businesses.

How many employees do you employee?

Your company can get a Government cash incentive of up to £500 for setting up Payroll Giving. This applies to all companies who employ 500 or more staff. Your employee's choosen charities will have their donations matched for the first 6 months.
